One question that’s often asked is what the plastic under the Chrome and 24kt Gold Plated BrickArms accessories looks like. Here I’ve unveiled the mystery by peeling pack some of the gold plating from a bit of sprue to expose the plastic underneath.
The color itself isn’t all that interesting, but what is neat about that plastic: it has a nickel component mixed into the ABS. it’s this additive that allows the gold or chrome to be electroplated onto the plastic.
